Name five reasons young people want to use technology...
  • Technology is faster than most methods of doing anything.
  • Playing video games using ipods and cell phones is a lot more fun these days than playing outside.
  • All the adults around them are using technology therefore they want to use it.
  • They can find out about anything they want on the Internet
  • All of their friends are playing the latest games, listening to the most recent music on their phones and we all know that if all the other kids are doing you they want to too.
Did you identify with any of the Young people in the clip? why?
  • One the women on the clip talked about how she hates it when people e-mail her or write her and use Internet lingo such as u = you or abbreviations such as omg for oh my gosh. This is also a pet peeve of mine. I cannot stand it when people us omg and besties in sentences when they are talking. This lingo is meant for texting, instant messaging and e-mail not for everyday conversations.

Do you agree that having instant access to everything via the Internet helps you to know yourself better? why or why not?

  • I disagree. I don't think it helps me to know myself better but it definitely helps me know other people better. Now that e-mail and facebook and twitter we can know everything about everyone. Google is also and explosion of knowledge in and of itself. If anyone wants to know anything all they need to do is "google" it.

Do you agree that technology helps pave the way to move forward as a civilization? why or why not?

  • God would not have given us technology if he did not intend for us to use it so yes I believe that technology is moving our civilization in the right direction. We are becoming more knowledgeable! While at the same time technology is causing us to have less and less face to face communication. The people in our civilization are loosing touch with each other. It is sad but true

Kelly Boone is a sweet, down to earth young woman who was born in Cuttlerville Michigan. She has an old brother and sister who are both married. She also has 2 adorable nephews Timothy and Jared who are one and a half and 5 weeks old. Kelly says that she is a lot like her mother yet gets her work ethic from her father. She has always believed that working hard is the way to success and this was taught to her by her dad. Her family ownes a boat therefore she loves skying and tubing. This is one of the may ways that Kelly and her family bond. She said that they are very close and enjoy spending time with one another.
Before choosing Kuyper she was attanding Grand Rapids Comunity College and was engaged. The wedding was called off and she decifer God's will about relationships. Kelly said "I felt called to sing but didn't know exactly what that looked like." When she heard about Kuyper she decided to look into their music program. She wanted to grow in her faith and enhance her music skills so she prayerfully decided to attend Kuyper and see what God had in store for her there.
One thing that stuck out to me during this interview was her saying that we as Christians need to use our girfts in proportion to our faith, and that is why she was going to Kuyper so she could inprove both her faith and her gift. Kelly is an amazing woman of God and I cannot wait to see what he has in store for the rest of her life.

I chose a story that was current, and interesting: the First daughter dolls. A couple of months ago the TY company came out with 2 dolls of colored skin named Sasha and Malia. The company claims that they are not replicas of Obama's girls. They were however quite a hit.

When listening to a talk show radio I heard the host talking to Michelle Obama. She was very apauled that the TY company when behind their backs and made replicas of the girls. She commented that yes their father is now the pressident but the privacy and safty of the girls needs to come first.

When watching Entertainment Tonight they merely focused on the coming out of the new TY dolls. They said nothing about Michelle being offended. It seemed that they were focused more on marketing the new dolls than showing the true emotions behind the whole situation.

ABC news commented on this story as well and they delt more with the legal aspect of this situation. They talked about the TY dolls and the TY company and what they had to say. Never once mentioning the feelings of the Obama family. ABC said that TY claimed they were not marketing the dolls after the Obama girls. ABC thinks differently however when they note the girls mere quincidence of the dolls having darker skin dark hair and the names Sasha and Malia.

This is a fairly popular sotry therefore there were many sources that I was able to find that I was able to collect data from.

Gaza strip confusion

After reading 4 or 5 news web sites (including FAIR) about the current bombing for the Gaza strip it is clear that the media does not know exactly what is going on. The FAIR web site seems to be pointing fingers at Hamas for firing rockets into Israel. There is no reason that Israel should be blamed for the bombs that are being sent into Gaza because those are merely retaliation bomb. Israel is only trying to protect their people.
I think that the media is handeling the incedent well. They are attempting to find the truth and reporting on what they know at the moment. They are getting critisies for spreading rumors and not telling the truth but I do not beleive that that was ever their intention. They are trying to gather information as quickly and as acuratly as possible so that they have the newest and most updated inforatmion.
